SaySee© was built for schools — which means privacy isn't an afterthought, it's a design principle. Student identifying information never touches external AI services. No advertising. No data selling. Ever.

The AI does not access student information — ever. Student names, progress records, uploaded photos, and learning data are never sent to, accessed by, or processed by any AI service. The AI receives only an anonymous classroom phrase (example: "please sit down") and returns only a matching word. Nothing more.

All student profiles, progress data, and uploaded photos are stored exclusively in SaySee©'s secure, encrypted database — accessible only to the authorized teacher and district administrator. Student data never leaves the SaySee© platform.

What Data We Collect

FERPA Compliance

SaySee© is designed for FERPA compliance. We operate as a "school official" under the FERPA school official exception when used by educational institutions. Specifically:

AI and Voice Processing

SaySee© uses AI for semantic word matching. Before any speech is sent to AI services, all student names are removed and replaced with anonymous placeholders. No student identifying information is ever transmitted to AI services. Voice audio is never recorded or stored.

Photo Storage

Photos uploaded by teachers are stored in private, encrypted cloud storage. Photos are accessible only to the teacher who uploaded them via time-limited signed URLs. Photos are never publicly accessible.

COPPA Compliance

SaySee© does not collect data directly from children under 13. All data is collected from and managed by teachers and school officials. We operate under the COPPA school official exception.

California SOPIPA Compliance

SaySee© complies with California Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (SOPIPA). We do not sell student data, use student data for targeted advertising, or build profiles of students for non-educational purposes.

Data Retention

Data is retained while your account is active. Upon account closure, all data is deleted within 30 days. Contact hello@saysee.io to request deletion at any time.
